Training the Trainer Program
The Shakti Dance® Academy offers this path of training, open to certified Shakti Dance® Teachers, to become a Shakti Dance® Teacher Trainer. This process begins with approval of application submitted to the Academy.
This path is separate from the path of Shakti Dance® Level 1 & Level 2 Teacher Training Programs, which are designed to train Shakti Dance® Teachers, rather than training Shakti Dance® Teacher Trainers. However, the participation in Level 2 Teacher Training Programs are also a requisite for becoming a Shakti Dance® Teacher Trainer.
Internship Training
The Shakti Dance® Academy offers this path of training, open to certified Shakti Dance® Teachers, to become a Shakti Dance® Teacher Trainer.
This path is separate from the path of Shakti Dance® Level 1 & Level 2 Teacher Training Programs, which are designed to train Shakti Dance® Teachers, rather than training Shakti Dance® Teacher Trainers. However, the participation in Level 2 Teacher Training Programs is also a requisite for becoming a Shakti Dance® Teacher Trainer.
Level 1 Training the Trainer Program
The “Level 1 Training the Trainer Program” specifically trains certified Shakti Dance® Teachers to become Teacher Trainers in the Level 1 Shakti Dance® Teacher Training Programs.
This Training the Trainer Program consists of 4 different steps or levels:
- Level 1 Intern Trainer
Those in the process of training to become a certified teacher trainer of Level 1. The Internship generally consists of participating in 2-3 rounds of the Level 1 Shakti Dance® Teacher Training. These 2-3 internship rounds are in addition to the initial round of training to become a certified teacher. Towards the end of this process, the intern will teach several hours in a teacher training under supervision. - Level 1 Associate Trainer
Certified teacher trainers who teach 2-4 days in a teacher training. In this role they continue to train, extending and broadening their teaching skills and experience. - Level 1 Professional Trainers
Certified teacher trainers who have gained substantial experience and who teach up to 50% of a teacher training. In this role they continue to extend and broaden their teaching skills and experience. - Level 1 Lead Trainers
Certified trainers who have the experience of teaching the whole curriculum and who have the capacity to put on, organize and sustain Level 1 training programs. Lead trainers teach up to 75% of a teacher training.
- Observational Intern
- Description
- Observes the TT curriculum content again to get a clear overview of the training
- Observes and notes down the methodology of teaching in each module
- Observes the process of training the participants
- The Observational Intern is under the guidance of the Mentor or Lead Trainer, who will support the Assistant Intern showing them how to create Lesson Plans and helping them develop the necessary skills to become a Shakti Dance Trainer
- 4 Zoom or Live meetings with Mentor to support their progress and process
- Work with Mentor to follow an Individual Development Plan
- By observing a full cycle of 24 days of a full Level 1 Shakti Dance TT and completing requirements of the Application form, the Observational Intern may graduate to Assistant Intern Trainer
- If, due to a lack of experience, the Observational Intern’s application to graduate as an Assistant Intern Trainer is denied, they return to repeat this round again.

- Responsibilities
- Help Trainers during the TT if needed
- Create Lesson Plans for each Module
- Attend at least 6 days of this curriculum round being taught by Sara Avtar
- Attend Live the Level 2 at least every other year
- Fill in Teacher’s Profile in Teachers’ Directory

- Assistant Intern

- Direct assistance on the SD Level 1 TT
- Assistant Intern learns how to organize all the curriculum material, ensuring they have created lesson plans for each Module, some of which they will then present
- Assistant Intern will present at least 2 short practicum sessions of approx. 3 hours that include both theory and practice. They are usually presented online, but one session may occur during a Live training at the Lead Trainer’s discretion.
- the Assistant Intern will present the parts of the curriculum they have studied more deeply, during the internship. They are still under the guidance of the Mentor or Lead Trainer, who will support the Assistant Intern in creating their lesson plans, observe the lessons they teach, support them while teaching (if necessary), and give feedback

- Responsibilities & Duties
- Complete the 2nd round of L1 SD TT as an Intern.
- At least 6 days of this second curriculum round should be taught by Sara Avtar
- If Assistant Intern has already completed the first round as an Observational Intern without attending training days with Sara Avtar, then it will be necessary to attend at least 6 days of this second round, with modules being taught by Sara Avtar.
- 4 zoom or live meeting with mentor to support their progress and process
- Live attendance at the Level 2 at least every other year
- Individual Development Plan
- Opportunity to assist group activities and host smaller groups for feedback sessions
- During the phase of Assistant Internship, it may be possible for the Intern to present a small lesson (approx. 2-3 hours including theory and practice) during the training they are following, but the Intern may instead be asked to present a lesson on video or in the presence of other Interns at an encounter external to the training they are following.
- The Assistant will now also be required to assist/facilitate the exam process.

The path of training to become a Shakti Dance® Teacher Trainer is offered by the Shakti Dance® Academy. This path is only open to certified Shakti Dance® Teachers. The process begins with the Academy approval of your submitted application.

Trainers' Further Training
- Role of Associate Trainer
- Description
- The Associate Trainer has some specialized areas of competence and can teach a part of the training (usually 10-30%, but no more than 40% which may be taught if the Associate Trainer is aspiring to graduate to a Professional Trainer)
- With each round of Teacher Training, the Associate Trainer is invited to aspire to teach different themed modules to increase their teaching range and extend their capacity
- Fee

- min. 4 personalized coaching with a mentor

- Responsibilities & Duties
- A steady personal sadhana is an important foundation for this.
- Create at least one min 3-days retreat
- min. 4 zoom or live meeting with mentor regarding its process
- Live or online attendance at Level 2 at least every second year
- Teach at least 2 modules every year
- Being an active member of SDA with complete profile in Teachers’ Directory

- Associate Trainer will be paid to teach training modules according to the Trainers Fee Table
- Scope for career growth
- Going from Associate Trainer to Professional Trainer
- By observing further modules of curriculum material that Associate Trainer has not yet taught, and by extending their teaching range to cover at least half of the curriculum, the Associate Trainers may graduate to be Professional Trainers. The Associate may decide to extend their capacity to become a Professional Trainer, in which case they will need to observe at least another round of all the modules they are not teaching, in order to deepen their knowledge of the other parts of the curriculum. In addition to this, they will need to teach some other themes/modules of the curriculum which they have not yet taught. This way they can extend their teaching range. The mentor will be instrumental in helping you develop your full potential as a Professional Teacher Trainer. This includes looking over lesson plans and/or observing the new material they are teaching and giving feedback. The Associate Trainer will also follow the agreed Individual Develop Plan with the mentor. This process may take more than one round. Once the Associate Trainer is able to teach all the material of the curriculum proficiently, and after a review of the Associate’s progress then they may graduate to become a Professional Trainer.

- Organize and/or participate as a trainer in a masterclass for SDTT every year
- 2 zoom or live meeting with mentor regarding its process
- Live or online attendance at Level 2 at least every second year
- Being an active member of SDA with profile filled in Teachers Directory

- PT will be paid for their teaching regarding the Trainers Fee Table
- can be involved in the evaluation process of the IT and AT
- Becoming Lead Trainer
- To become a Lead Trainer, the Professional Trainer must also go through the whole process of organizing and hosting an SD Level 1 Teacher Training on their own and must be able to sustain the whole training program single-handedly (they may employ a Local Organiser to help them). They must thereby demonstrate that they have the complete know-how, ability and overview to successfully run the whole training. The Lead Trainer will assist the Professional Trainer in acquiring these abilities and may request a fee for this assistance. Following a recommendation and a review with Sara Avtar, and if agreed, the Professional Trainer will then graduate to Lead Trainer

- The Lead Trainer is able to teach all the modules and has the capacity to independently organize and run from A-Z an SD L1 TT. The Lead Trainer may engage a Local Organiser to help them run the course.
- The Lead Trainer may teach up to 75% of the training. The Lead Trainer may choose which other Trainers to invite on her team. Sara Avtar holds the right to teach a minimum of 20-30% on each training (although this may vary according to circumstances and continents).
