General Terms & Conditions of the Shakti DanceĀ® Teacher Level 1 Training Program
Requisites for Completion of and Certification through the
The Following Requisites must be Satisfied for Qualification as a Shakti DanceĀ® Level 1 Teacher:
- 180 classroom hours
- 45 hours of self-study* and written summaries
- Full payment of the Training Program fees
- Practice teaching of a Shakti DanceĀ® class with peer review from the trainer and fellow students
- Participation in at least 10 mornings of sadhana (early morning practice), during the training program
- In addition to the training program, attend 30 hours of Shakti DanceĀ® regular classes or workshops, with any previously
- Certified Shakti DanceĀ® teacher (not from your training group). The time period given for this completion is from 3 months before training begin, until 6 months after end of training.
- Online classes and workshops will be recognized only if purchased through Shakti Dance Academy and with a valid Academy certification of participation.
- Completion of any extra Study Assignments in order to recuperate missed classroom hours**
- Completion of any Follow Up Tasks after the Practical Exam
- Pass the Shakti DanceĀ® Level 1 Practical and Written Exams***
- Complete all the training requirements no later than six months after the end of the Training Program. An extension may be granted by official request to the program organizer and Shakti DanceĀ® Academy.
- Final decision for qualification lies with the Lead Trainer and the Shakti DanceĀ® founder Sara Avtar Olivier.
- Insertion of Personal Teachers’ Profile Page in the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy Teacher’s Directory.
*The 45 Hours of Self-Study include:
- Personal practice of specified yoga-asanas and Shakti Flowing-Asanas
- Personal practice of specified meditations and/or Celestial Communications,
- Keeping a diary of experience during the practice of specified meditations and/or Celestial Communications
- Personal practice of specified Standing Sequences and/or Mantric Choreographies
- Reading of course manual or hand-outs during the Program
- Background reading of suggested books
- Short essays of theoretical nature and summaries of diaries relating to personal experiences during the 40-day practice of Shakti DanceĀ®
**A participant is entitled to attend any missed modules at any future Shakti DanceĀ® Level 1 Teacher Training, providing they can follow the language (or provided translation) in which it is taught. Recuparation is also possible, against payment, with a recorded video of that module. See below, underĀ Regulation for Recuperation of Missed Modules for further details.Ā
Certificates will not be issued until all modules have been recouped – even if the exam has been passed.
***The Final Examination Consists of Practical Exam:
- Leading all or part of a Shakti DanceĀ® class
- Presenting a specified Shakti Dance Mantric Choreography
- Developing, presenting and leading a Celestial Communication
- Demonstrate answers to oral questions
- Trainees may also be given follow up tasks after the exam to be completed before qualification and
- A Written Exam – Answering a written exam at home by email.
In the case of emergencies, participants can recuperate missed Training Days in another teacher training elsewhere and/or at another time. Alternatively, participants may choose to recuperate by paying for pre-recorded videos of any days missed, streamed on the Shakti Dance Academy website, which will be available to them for 2 weeks after payment (providing it exists in a language they can follow).
- Live Presential Participation in Yoga Center ā contributing only ā¬25 per day to the host training program to cover organisation and seminar-room rental costs,
- Online Participation via the Shakti Dance Academy, through Zoom ā contributing ā¬33,33 + VAT per day,
- If available in the studentās language, through a Video Recording from the Shakti Dance Academy (available for 14 days) + homework ā contributing ā¬41,67 + VAT per day.
Kindly note that an active academic membership is required for any of the three options to recover the missed modules.
In order to be admitted to the final practical exam, participants can miss a total of only 4 training days. Otherwise they will not have the necessary experience. These will need to be recuperated as above.
Certificates will not be issued until all modules have been recouped – even if the exam has been passed.
A participant is entitled to attend any missed modules at any future Shakti DanceĀ® Level 1 Teacher Training, providing they can follow the language (or provided translation) in which it is taught.
A student, having paid the full costs to their original Shakti DanceĀ® Level 1 Teacher Training Program, may then recuperate up to 6 days of missed modules at another training, contributing only 25 Euros per dayĀ to the host training program to cover organisation and venue rental costs.
If the student needs to recuperate more than 6 days in a different training, then they will need to pay the full daily tuition costs of the of host training program to that host program for all the days they attend that exceed 6 days.
Any further travel or accommodation costs will also need to be paid for by the participant.
Generally, the Shakti DanceĀ® Level 1 Teacher Training and certification should be completed within six months after the practical exam of the original training.
However, participants may ask in writing for an extension of time to the Organiser of their original training and the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy Secretary. This time period can be extended for as long as is necessary, but the Academy does not take responsibility for following up on the studentās progress.
If the agreed extended time limit is exceeded without further written notification on the part of the student, then the student will no longer be eligible for certification.
The Tuition Fee for this Training Program includes inscription for Annual Membership to the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy. All Participants of this Training Program become Trainee Members of the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy for the duration of the Training or up to one year after inscription. All Academic Members of the Academy are eligible to access the Reserved Area of the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy website.
Qualified Shakti DanceĀ® Teachers that are members of the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy will be listed in, and promoted through the āTeachersā Directoryā of the Shakti Dance website (www.shaktidanceacademy.com). They will also be eligible to access the Reserved Area of the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy website.
Qualified Shakti DanceĀ® Teachers that are not members of the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy will be listed by name only in the āTeachersā Directory to ensure the validation of their certification, but they will not be promoted with any contact details and will not be eligible to access the Reserved Area of the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy website.
Certified Shakti DanceĀ® Teachers who enrol as members of the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy may be granted authorization to access and to use the Academyās promotional material.

Shakti DanceĀ® Academy LLP, through its London administrative office, has the exclusive right and responsibilities to promote and protect the Shakti DanceĀ® Trademark, MethodĀ® and copyrights.
The right to use, teach and promote the Shakti Dance® Discipline, Method© and Trainings with the Shakti Dance® trademark is granted only to certified Shakti Dance® Teachers and Trainers, as per the Guidelines.
The right to teach and create publicity under the trademarked name Shakti DanceĀ® is acquired by gaining validated certification as a Shakti DanceĀ® Level 1 Teacher and by signing and abiding by the Shakti DanceĀ® Teacherās Code of Ethics.
A Shakti DanceĀ® Teacher, with validated certification, who upholds the Teacherās Code of Ethics, automatically gains the right to teach and share with students, under the name of Shakti DanceĀ® – through direct, but not indirect audio-visual, contact – the knowledge, skills, techniques and copyrighted Shakti Dance MethodĀ© acquired in the Shakti DanceĀ® Teacher Training Program, through which that Teacher has qualified.
To share such Shakti DanceĀ® teachings through audio-visual media, a teacher needs to be authorized by, and gain approval for their productions from Shakti DanceĀ® Academy.
The Shakti DanceĀ® trademark and/or logo must always be used in any publicity.
Trainees that wish to practice teaching Shakti DanceĀ® before receiving Level 1 Shakti DanceĀ® certification may apply to their Lead Trainer and/or Program Organizer for a temporary teaching permit. In general, trainees may teach Shakti Dance on a non-professional basis during the training. After the practical exam and before receiving certification, students may be given temporary permission to teach professionally ā for no more than six months. If the student has not certified by then, they no longer have permission to teach Shakti DanceĀ®, until certification is acquired.
The Shakti DanceĀ® trademark and/or logo must always be used in any publicity.
The Tuition Fee includes a printed copy of the Shakti Dance Level 1 Teacher Training Manual©.
A selection of Shakti Dance Level 1 Teacher Training Didactic Videos© are available and accessible to Shakti Dance Academy Members, via online streaming in the Reserved Area.

The Shakti Dance Level 1 Teacher Training Manual© and Didactic Videos© are for personal usage and study only, and are subject to copyright laws. Any reproduction, publishing, hiring, lending or performance in whole or any part is strictly prohibited.
Tuition payment for the Shakti Dance Level 1 Teacher Training Program does not grant the right to record and/or own audio-video of all or any of the intellectual property of the training content shared during the program.
No video recordings of any part of the Shakti DanceĀ® Level 1 Teaching Training Program is permitted during the program.
Written permission may be given by the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy to an appointed person to record Audio-Video during the program if the recordings serve to update the Academyās online Didactic Training Materials.
- Approved Promotional Videos of Shakti DanceĀ®
A Certified Shakti DanceĀ® Teacher, has the right to create and publish Approved Promotional Videos of Shakti DanceĀ® to promote their Shakti DanceĀ® courses, workshops, intensives, authorized trainings and initiatives.Approval for the publication of Promotional Videos must be granted by the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy, by fulfilling the Academyās requisites and standards, before freely publishing and distributing a Promotional Video of Shakti DanceĀ®.
Promotional Shakti DanceĀ® Videos must only show short excerpts of exercises. They should not clearly demonstrate whole exercises or sequences of exercises or movement choreographies as practiced in the discipline of Shakti DanceĀ®.
- Approved Teaching Videos of Shakti DanceĀ®.
Only Advanced Certified Shakti DanceĀ® Teachers & Trainers, authorized by Shakti DanceĀ® Academy have the right to create Approved Teaching Videos of Shakti DanceĀ®. Requisites are given, and approval granted with copyright agreement, to such Authorized Teachers by the Shakti DanceĀ® Academy. Teaching videos are only to be distributed in accordance with terms and royalties agreed with Shakti DanceĀ® Academy.
Definition of Teaching Videos: These consist of the clear demonstration of specific Exercises, Exercise Sequences, or Movement Choreographies pertaining to any of the Phases of Shakti DanceĀ®. The demonstration of the above elements are done in such a way that the general public are able to follow and acquire the content of the video, experiencing the effects of the given Shakti Exercises or Sequence of Exercises.
- Celestial Communications and/or Mantric Choreographies
A Certified Shakti Dance Teacher, has the permission to create Celestial Communications and/or Mantric Choreographies according to the Shakti Dance® Method©, providing that credit is given to the Shakti Dance® Method©. These may be published privately to a limited audience (e.g Facebook Friends only).
Only those Celestial Communications and/or Mantric Choreographies, created according to the Shakti Dance® Method© that have been approved by the Shakti Dance® Academy can be publicly published. Approval is granted when the requisites and standards issued by the Shakti Dance® Academy for the filming of such Movement Meditation Choreographies have been met.
No Celestial Communications and/or Mantric Choreographies created by Sara Avtar Olivier or any other Certified Shakti Dance Teacher should be videoed or published without the express permission of their creator.
Important:
The contract for this Shakti DanceĀ® Level 1 Training Program includes a declaration of acceptance of all the above terms and conditions, including that of payment for the Program.
Agreeing to the terms and conditions also acknowledges acceptance that in the event of a student interrupting the Training Program before full completion of their participation, the student will nevertheless be expected to complete full payment, paying the above instalments on their due dates.
